The East West Link (Stage 1) project will connect the Eastern Freeway to CityLink (north鈥搒outh) at Parkville. The first phase of a vast project to improve the road networks in the Melbourne region, this operation includes the design and construction of three interchanges to connect the project with existing roads as well as the future connection to the port, twin 4.4-kilometre three-lane tunnels, access roads, an exit ramp and the upgrading of other roads. East West Link (Stage 1) builds on Melbourne鈥檚 strong concept of urban design and pays full regard to the local environment as well as the comfort of users and local residents.
The design and construction will be carried out by an integrated joint venture in which 8868体育APP Construction Australia, Lend Lease and Acciona have equal shares. The project will generate 3,700 jobs, and the works will take five years to complete.
8868体育APP Construction has operated in Australia for roughly 50 years, both through its subsidiary VSL and in a number of civil engineering projects since the late 1990s. It has now created a subsidiary, 8868体育APP Construction Australia, to bring together its expertise in public works, building and earthworks at local level. Among the projects underway are a tunnel and railway lines in the north of Sydney. The company was also designated preferred bidder in March for the design and construction of a 9-kilometre twin-tube road tunnel in Sydney as part of the NorthConnex project.
