Day 1:

Transfert from Caracas to Merida by plane or private car. Nights in Mérida are passed between the tour in a comfortable inn. Dinner at the Abadía restaurant.

Day 3, 4,5 &6:

Los Llanos

You will spend 4 days in extensive plains of Los Llanos that stretch into the national territory within the heart of the country, ranging from the foothills of the Andes Mountains to the Orinoco Delta.  This region is known as the Far West Venezuelan territory and consists of mystic plains where cowboys can be found guiding their cattle herds the size of a French department.  It’s a natural paradise inhabited by an enormous varied wildlife.  A tour to Los Llanos is imperative for ornithologists and for those who are simply interested in seeing creatures in their natural environment.  You’ll find that everywhere there is extraordinary animal diversity, either in the plains or in the woods and around rivers or marshes.  The swamps are populated by ducks, herons, the Garzones soldiers, Corocoro red - the color highlights on super black and white herons, and falcons of the caricares. During the winter may be lucky enough to watch the extraordinary spectacle of cormorants Corocoro or Garzones soldiers gathered in mass to play on the same site building.  Near the water courses kingfisher flying ground surface are heated cormorants on the shore and chenchenas digest their meals, made a quiet table, disturbed only by an osprey diving in the water to catch its prey.  Along the edge of the pipes live alligators, also known as caiman. On the banks of the Orinoco river caimans care for their eggs with a threatening air.  You may also have the opportunity to observe an anaconda - the world's largest snake, which can measure up to 12 meters long.  Gallery forests that surround the paths of many rivers are populated by birds such as macaws fruitful, birds Guacara, the turpiales (national emblem) and Jay, recognizable by their long hanging nests.  You can also find many reptiles such as iguanas, and “tragavenados” (Bothrops asper).  Mixing screams to singing of birds and howler monkeys create a very loud background noise and their cousins capuchin monkeys, small and discreet, jumping from tree to tree in whole groups.  Such an abundance of animals makes Los Llanos a favorite hunting ground for eagles, falcons and vultures.  At night the great plains hosts all kinds of nocturnal animals such as foxes, ocelot, and bats. Day 7, 8 & 9:

Pueblos del sur / Transandina

The idea is to offer the most daring an experience in both human and mechanical adventure.  You will discover small towns of yesteryear lost in the middle of the mountains within landscapes that leave you breathless.  Those who are seeking contact with real local people will be fully rewarded by this tour.  You’ll cross the Andes Mountains in 4wheelers via small winding roads. This tour will allow you to discover the two sides of Los Pueblos del Sur.  You will pass through large desert areas covered with cactus and also areas of rain forest.   It is very rustic, but 100% authentic and you will be surprised by how welcoming the people are.  The adventure continues in a mechanical sense that you will certainly help the guide when the 4wheeler is stuck in the mud or small mountain rivers.  Fun and excitement are guaranteed! Day 10:

Free day in Mérida.

Day 11 & 12:

Our destiny is the Maracaibo Lake for 2 days and 1 night sleeping in palafito (Indigenous house on the water).  Between Santa Ana and Catatumbo Rivers lies a vast area of swamps inhabited by the Motilones Indians.  Catatumbo National Park, also known as “Cienagas de Juan Manuel”, it is a botanical reserve established in 1991.  The lands of the Catatumbo Delta are very fertile and play a vital environmental role in the region of Maracaibo Lake providing habitat for many types of birds, particularly waterfowl such as great blue herons along with several mammals, and freshwater dolphins.  The Catatumbo Delta is famous for its mysterious lightning, a unique natural phenomenon which was in other times known as the "Faro de Maracaibo.” Full description and video click here.

Day 13:

Transfert from Merida to Caracas by plane or private car.

Housing conditions:

Nights in Mérida are passed between the tour in a comfortable inn. During the tours was he sleeps in a hammock camp on the plains and small mountain inns in the towns Los Pueblos del Sur and in palafito (lac of Maracaibo).

Full board, except on days 1, 2, 10 & 13
